Feeding the Revolution.

You know that saying "you are what you eat"? We're not saying we all want to be avocados, but we can't deny that what we put in our bodies has a huge impact on how we feel, both physically and mentally. Food as medicine isn't just about slurping down green smoothies (although they're pretty damn good). It's a lifestyle that's all about choosing the right foods for your body, prevent illness, and boost your overall well-being.

🧱Nutrient-Dense Foods Are What's Up

Nutrient-dense foods provide a high concentration of essential nutrients relative to the number of calories they contain. So, basically they are the BOMB (Yes, we know that enthusiasm just aged us and frankly we don't give a sh*t.)

These foods are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other important compounds that are beneficial for overall health and well-being. Nutrient density is a measure of how much nutrition you get from a food relative to the energy (calories) it provides. Kale, quinoa, chia seeds, and turmeric – we're all about these superfoods. They're packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that do wonders for our health.

💩 Gut Health Is the New Black

We've jumped on the gut health bandwagon. Fermented foods like kombucha, kimchi, and kefir are all about supporting a healthy gut microbiome, which is linked to better digestion, stronger immunity, and even mood regulation. Probiotics aren't just for your post-partum friends and grandma, they make a huge difference in your everyday!

🧠 Mindful Eating Is Our Meditation

Mindful eating is a practice that involves paying full attention to the experience of eating and drinking, both in terms of the food itself and the sensations that arise in the body. It's about being fully present in the moment and savoring each bite, rather than eating on autopilot or rushing through meals. Being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, without judgment, is plate-changing...We mean game-changing.

We've learned the art of mindful eating, savoring each bite rather than inhaling our food on the go. This reduces stress and improves digestion.

🍽️ A Day in the Plate of Food as Medicine Believer

Let's break it down...

Morning: Start the day with a green smoothie loaded with kale, spinach, bananas, and almond milk. Top it off with chia seeds and a sprinkle of turmeric for an anti-inflammatory kick.

Lunch: A big, colorful salad featuring leafy greens, roasted veggies, chickpeas, and avocado, drizzled with a homemade vinaigrette made from olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Snack: A handful of mixed nuts for a dose of healthy fats and protein to keep the energy levels up.

Dinner: Prepare a nourishing homemade bowl with quinoa, grilled salmon, and a side of sautéed kale. A squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of nutritional yeast for that extra flavor.

Nightcap: Sip on herbal tea like chamomile or ginger for a restful night's sleep.

Conclusion...

Food as medicine is more than just a trend; it's a lifestyle choice that's helping folks feel their best and live their healthiest lives. It's all about embracing nutrient-rich foods, promoting sustainability, and taking control of our own well-being. So, let's toast our juicers to the power of food in healing and keep spreading the avocado! 🥑🌿
